Leave Your Legacy at Owl Plaza: The Buy-a-Brick Campaign
As our beloved city continues to grow and evolve, we're thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for community members to literally cement their place in Grants Pass history. The transformation of the Owl Parking Lot at 5th and H Streets represents more than just urban renewal—it's a celebration of our community spirit and a vision for our shared future.
A New Chapter for Downtown Grants Pass
In 2025, the familiar Owl Parking Lot will undergo a remarkable metamorphosis. While maintaining its essential function as a parking area, the space will be reimagined as the vibrant Owl Plaza—a versatile public gathering place designed to host community events, farmers markets, art shows, and countless memories yet to be made.
The plaza's design will incorporate natural elements, comfortable seating areas, and space for performances, creating an urban oasis that reflects the unique character of our riverside community. This thoughtful balance of functionality and beauty exemplifies Grants Pass' commitment to creating spaces that serve multiple purposes while enhancing our downtown experience.
Your Name, Your Legacy
What makes this project truly special is the opportunity for you to become a permanent part of this new community landmark. Through our "Buy-a-Brick" campaign, approximately 470 commemorative bricks will form a special patio area near the 5th and H Street sidewalks—each one telling a story of the people who make Grants Pass special.
For $250, your family name, business, or organization can be elegantly engraved on a brass plaque and embedded in a paving brick. These personalized markers will welcome visitors to Owl Plaza for generations to come, creating a mosaic of community connections underfoot.
How It Works
The process is straightforward but meaningful:
Choose your inscription: Your text must be limited to names only (no slogans, quotes, or phrases) with a maximum of three lines and 18 characters per line, including spaces.
Examples of acceptable inscriptions include:
The Smith Family
Bob and Mary Smith
The Smiths Bob, Mary, Erin, Aaron, Mable
Submit your order: Either complete the form online through our city website or visit City Hall, Suite 202, at 101 NW A Street to fill out a paper form.
Payment options: Mail your check or pay in person using cash, check, or credit card.
The City maintains the right to review all submissions to ensure they meet our community standards. If text is deemed inappropriate, we'll reach out to discuss alternatives. Should an acceptable compromise not be reached, a full refund will be provided.
More Than Just Bricks
These commemorative bricks represent more than just names on pavement—they symbolize our community's investment in shared spaces. Each purchase contributes to creating a plaza that will host countless memories: children playing during summer evenings, couples enjoying lunch on sunny afternoons, friends gathering before concerts, and neighbors connecting during community celebrations.
As Grants Pass continues to develop vibrant public spaces that honor our past while embracing our future, the Owl Plaza stands as a testament to thoughtful urban planning and community involvement. Your brick isn't just a personalized marker—it's a statement that you believe in the future of our downtown and the importance of creating beautiful, functional spaces where community happens.
